Power point or wall charger?
Most EVs come with a cable that plugs into a normal power point. It works, but it's slow, and running a car off a standard outlet for hours every night isn't ideal. A dedicated wall charger on its own circuit is faster, safer and smarter.
Single-phase or three-phase?
Most homes are single-phase, which suits a typical 7 kW home charger well. Three-phase supply allows faster charging, but many cars can only accept a limited charge rate at home anyway. We check what your car and your supply can actually do before recommending a charger.
Can your switchboard cope?
A charger is one of the biggest loads in the house, running for hours at a time. We check the board's capacity and the main supply, and can add load management so the charger backs off when the oven and air-con are running.
Got solar?
Many chargers can soak up excess solar during the day. If you're home or work from home, that can make a real difference. We'll set it up to suit how you use the car.
Where to mount it
Close to where you park, out of the weather where possible, and with a sensible cable run. In carports and open garages near the coast, we use weather-rated fittings to suit the salt air.
